Timo has nearly 40 years of experience in various industries, ranging from the execution of installation projects to serving as the Executive Vice President and a member of the Leadership Team of a publicly listed company. His notable career can be divided into three distinct phases:
Projects: Timo has been a Project Manager in numerous investment projects in the paper and pulp industry, steel industry, chemical industry, food industry, energy sector, and mechanical wood processing industry in Finland and Sweden.
Entrepreneur and Service Business: Timo founded his own company to sell automation equipment and consulting services to the industry. The consulting services were sold to large corporations, one of which bought his business and recruited him for their service company. His new role involved selling maintenance outsourcing, handling acquisitions, and managing maintenance at various customer plants as an Account Manager. At the time, the development of the business and the growth of maintenance outsourcing was exponential, and the workforce increased fourfold during those years.
International Service and Technology Business: A Finnish publicly listed company recruited Timo to develop and expand its service business and appointed him as a member of the group’s executive team (GVP, Group Vice President). His work began with creating a global service strategy, which integrated machine sales and service sales, productized lifecycle services into modernization business, established local service centers worldwide, and more. As an outcome, the service business increased more than fivefold over the next nine years. After that, Timo moved to lead a market area in the corporation, with the responsibility of overseeing sales in that area and acting as the lead negotiator in factory-level sales agreements. This period was successful, as Timo’s team sold a record number of production lines and factories in the market area. As a result of an organizational change within the corporation, Timo assumed responsibility for the global business unit, and the methods developed in the market area were adopted globally. At the same time, new products and technologies were developed, leading to a competitive product portfolio. Modern marketing and sales processes were used during the product launch. The results of the contribution are still visible today.
As a result of these years and many intriguing challenges, Timo has developed a systematic and innovative approach to developing and growing various businesses. His long-term work and aspiration to learn and grow in new environments, in collaboration with other stakeholders, form the foundation for success.
